Victoria Welsh Choir is proud to announce that we will be joined by these two scintillating and beautiful entertainers on 17 October 2010 at 2.30 pm at Robert Blackwood Hall. Patrons will be treated to a veritable feast of songs and tunes from the classical and contemporary repertoires of these stars of stage and television.
Jane Rutter, pictured left, is established as one of Australia’s most brilliant and versatile flautists and one of the few with the ability to cross over successfully into jazz and pop with all her solo albums entering the FM pop charts. Since 1990, she has been a household name in Australia, appearing on every major television variety and current affairs show, including a 60 Minutes feature. She has performed in many countries around the world and is known for her dynamic and communicative performing and teaching skills. A new release of her first three solo albums, The Jane Rutter Collection has just been released on ABC classics.
Describing herself as a bel canto flute player, Jane says, "The flute is always first and foremost a voice, and music is the secret language of the entire world.”
Silvie Paladino, pictured right, is a stage superstar and multi-talented entertainer in Australia - she has performed to hundreds of thousands of people throughout the world and has one of the greatest female show voices of our time. Her performances include leading roles in Les Misérables, Cats, Miss Saigon, Hair, Mamma Mia! and Sideshow Alley, for which she was nominated for a Helpmann Award. In 2002, her Silvie Paladino Sings Streisand CD was released, following her touring show which was nominated for a Green Room Award. More recently she toured with Patrizio Buanne and has recently played Lady Thiang in The King and I at the State Theatre. Silvie has sung at many major sporting events and is also well known through her TV appearances including regular performances on Carols by Candlelight at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl.
Vic Welsh, under the direction of Faleiry Koczkar and accompanied by Lorna Ogilvie, will entertain in its inimitable way with selections from its extensive and varied repertoire of Welsh and English songs, popular numbers and opera choruses.
